Graeme Gerussi
Growing up in a highly creative home and school environment, I was always encouraged to explore my passions and wide variety of interests with a certain joie de vivre. Nature being my purest form of inspiration, I also attribute a lot of my illustration and typography aesthetic to the work of Wes Wilson and Bonnie MacLean of the 60s psychedelic poster movement, as well as Alphonse Mucha of the Art Nouveau movement.
I have always been enthralled with animated films, especially stop-motion (Art Clokey's Gumby TV series, Will Vinton's Claymation films, Aardman's Wallace & Gromit and others, The Nightmare Before Christmas, etc). The 3-D textures in these films have inspired me to create depth in my work, to give the audience the feeling that they could reach out and touch it.
As a musician, I am also very interested in the visual elements (gig posters, album art, band logos, music videos, etc) involved in creating a distinct visual feel that works with the vibe of the artist or band.
This website is a snapshot of my visual work over the years up to the present.
